Hi all,
I see on the wiki pages that PA currently has no to-do list. Is there enough interest to put one together? We can use this forum and editing the wiki page to compile tasks if there is enough known things to do.

We had one a long, long time ago, but it was tough getting people to update it. At this point, I’d rather see you post To-Do stuff in this forum, that way it is easy to mark when it is done.
Sounds like a plan. The one I’m interested in is PA State Routes. I see they are sometimes just the proper road name (River Rd instead of State Rte 441). Do we have a decision on which should be the first name, and which should be in the alternate name(s)?
It should be the street name with some exceptions. Put the route number in the alt field with in the State Rte xxx or PA-xxx format. Do not use State Hwy xxx. Don’t worry about putting SR-xxxx route numbers in the alt field. They serve no purpose.
The rule of thumb is put what is on the signposts. That will cover you for 95% of the SR in PA.
Exceptions:
-Some state routes alternate between the route number at major intersections and the name at minor. I’m undecided there, but I tend to use the name, because I am holding out hope that Waze will generate shields from the alt field.
-Some municipalities put both the name and route number on the same sign. I use the name only in the primary for the above reason.
-Sometimes the crossroad has a large sign on the traffic light and a smaller sign on the other corners. Use what is on the large sign on the first segment to help out the drivers, even if the rest of the road has a different name.
-Some roads don’t have signs. I use the route numbers there.
The toughest part is I haven’t found a reliable map source for the names of the state routes. I frequently need to check Google streetview to see what the signposts read. The names Google applies to their own maps are very unreliable. Do not trust any name Google puts on a PA state route.
Thanks, that’s some good insight. In that case, I should tidy up 283 as I used a lot of “State Hwy” instead of “State Rte”
I was able to update the on-ramps, just will need some help with the level 3 locks on the highway segments.
