I am traveling from Texarkana, AR to Little Rock, AR this weekend. It will be I-30 East about 95 % of the way. There is construction around the Benton, AR area…
I read some pace that there is a exit that I can take before I get to Benton… I believe it is about 10-15 miles before I get to Benton… It will be a extra traveling time of 30 minutes (Which I don’t mind at all). But I can’t seem to find it …
Once I get close to that exit will Waze alert me that there is construction about 10 miles and use this exit? This construction has been going on for a very very very long time.
Also what about coming home (It will be 30 West)… Will it direct me around the construction?
Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing from someone soon
Hey! You’re right, the Benton stretch on I-30 has been under construction forever. Waze (and Google Maps) will usually pop up an alert once you get close if traffic is heavy, and it’ll offer an alternate route — but if you’d rather have a backup plan, you can take Exit 111 at Malvern, then run Hwy 270 east toward Sheridan and cut back up Hwy 167 north into Little Rock. That detour adds about 25–30 minutes but avoids the slowdowns.
On the way home westbound, same deal — Waze should reroute you if backups are bad, but you can always reverse the Malvern/Sheridan route if you want to skip construction altogether. If you’d rather not stress, just set Waze before you leave and let it adjust live; the app is usually good about that around Benton. If you’d like, you can also check out a local guide on GoWithGuide ( https://gowithguide.com ) for Arkansas driving or day-trip tips — sometimes they know the less obvious backroads that apps don’t always suggest.
