Marked closed on waze but Traffic England shows the section as open with good traffic flow but 10 minute delay due to roadworks. Many URs generated recently on that section suggesting that it is indeed open. Obviously a high traffic flow segment when open so thought best to flag urgently for review.

It was closed by an automated system we’re trialling using data from the Highways England feed. I’m not sure why it wasn’t automatically re-opened.
Is the problem here that these are nightly closures, but that the Closure Monitor system has recorded them as 24 hour closure throughout the period?
These 2 segments at J2 are still showing as closed until 05:30 on 1st December

but the text says
“Closed, due to roadworks. Expected to re-open from 5:30 am on 16 November 2015.”
Don’t worry too much about the end date, as ClosureMonitor will reopen the road in the morning, and then re-close it the following evening.
However, this does rely on accurate data from Highways, which does occasionally contain erroneous information…

It’s seems that Highways has published* conflicting information about this stretch of M3, with one entry stating it’s closed while another says it had minor roadworks.
I’ll see what I can do to improve the system…
I believe this is what had happened with the result that Waze had marked the M3 closed when it was in-fact open.
I suspect highways published correct information in that there are always roadworks on that section with additional overnight closures at certain times. From what I could see the M3 was blanket closed but I may have been misreading it.
Regardless as long as the issue is now resolved that’s the most important thing and if you guys who are more familiar with the closure system now why and what to look out for in the future then even better.

Just to bump this again as it seems that the M3 now has no closures logged (unless they only show up when active if you don’t have permissions to edit them?) ready for the closure going on again tonight. Information from Highways is pretty poor so I’m not even sure what’s going on but checking just now it seems that Westbound will be closed between 10pm and 6am. Can’t see any info on Eastbound any more though :?

A closure was added at the time when Highways said it was closed (around 9:20), and we double-checked it against other sources just to be sure. The closure was then removed when Highways said it was reopened, in real-time. Eastbound remained open.
