I’m inclined to agree with the reporter. For those of us familiar with the intersection/area it’s easy enough, but it is a bit of a trap for young players not realising that if you want to stay on Parramatta Rd instead of turning into the M4, you have to be in the left-most lane.
Can this be addressed? I’m guessing that adding a geometry node to alter this segment might achieve it, but if it’s done it should be done by a more experienced editor not me.
I don’t understand why drivers can’t look out the windscreen when driving. :?
You will have issues from users who will complain about too much or not enough information at any intersection.
You wont get a prompt before the intersection when continuing along Parramatta Rd to Silverwater, which is correct.
Looking at the street view, there are directional signs painted on both right hand lanes, stating “M4 ONLY” starting at least 200m before that intersection. There is a BGS at least 150m before the intersection displaying which lanes are going to where.
If they were “turning right soon”, the app would have displayed the name of the next turn. If they were using a voice that also did TTS, then it would also speak the name of the next road they needed to turn right onto.
If they were going onto the Western Mtwy, the app would show a keep right to “M4 - Western Mtwy” and a keep right to “M4 - Western Mtwy” TTS prompt.
What would be better if the entry to the “M4 - Western Mtwy” had “to M4 - Western Mtwy to Sydney Olympic Park / Parramatta”
The exit from would also be better with “to A4 - Parramatta Rd to Sydney”
What ever we do is going to be a compromise, due to keeping things simple for easy map editing or we can be complicated which results in a lot of extra work in maintaining the map.
Biggest issue is the general Australian driver who insists on driving in the right hand lanes on most roads.
