Waze Branch for railways

Hello,
I’m quite new to Waze but very interested in it.
May be I’m off topic but it’s always useful to discuss, I think.
Everyday I travel to my job with a local city train to work that doesn’t offer any real time information on arrival, departures, late and so on. It travels on surface not underground so gps signal is OK.
So, I would like to use Waze to socialize the positions of the trains.
Do you think it can be done in any way with Waze or otherwise you can advice me about other apps?
By now I was only able to edit the map adding the railway route but it doesn’t seem to appear in the live map.

Thank You.

At this time, waze is aimed at car travel, and using it in any other mode pollutes the data used for routing and traffic detection. Yes the railroad type is still in the editor, but that is left over from startup and basemap import. The train lines in the basemap were everywhere (the source never removed tracks as they were decommished) so they were removed from livemap and clients to lower routing errors. There are two camps on if they should show or not, and more camps on how to handle users that don’t understand that using the product while walking, biking, training, flying does not help this current system out.

IMO I’m not sure that if the train provider doesn’t want to provide a good eta system, that any outside system is going to be able to predict their behavior any better.

Thank you for your reply.
I surely don’t want to become a “data polluting” user, so I’ll use waze just for car.
Meantime, I’ve read on the forum about the problem of handlig users that walks, fly and so on…
Regarding the train information, I was just imagining a live map showing some passenger travelling onto the next arriving train. Not impossible, but simply another “social app”.
We (a group of passengers) still continue using Twitter by now.
Thanks again.
