Waze for Blackberry devices?

I have shown Waze to a couple friends who have Blackberry devices and they think it’s an awesome idea.

Is Waze going to be developed for those devices as well?

We definately want to do that and are working on it.

My wife is waiting. She liked the muncher a lot in mine. Shes ready to use it in hers.

Lucky for you she is waiting, had to buy my wife an iPhone

I am waiting also. I have a Blackberry Tour and am looking forward to the application coming to the Blackberry…

Waze developers: Any updates as far as Blackberry development goes?

Sorry, but no set date yet. Working on it… but we’re having some technical difficulties. It’s definitely something that we’re planning on having in the future.

Still no new info?

Latest update i got was last night. Looks like this project has been pushed back with all that has gone on with Waze going international. It sounded like something might happen but definitely not until next year.

I dont have a Blackberry but from what Rob had been telling me everything is coded in javascript and all iphones/android are coded in c. There is no easy way to port the code from c to java.

This is Dan from the development team.
We are working on it, and hopefully we will be able to release as soon as possible - We still
have to fix quite a few things, and there is no release date yet. Anyway, just to let you know that we haven’t forgotten about the blackberry users, we’re aware of the huge amount of blackberries out there.

So stay patient

While I waiting for the Blackberry version of WAZE, I’ve had to install the software on an old WinMob phone with no sim card. This is just do-able as it allows me to improve on the roads near where I live (that is, the northern section of the large orbital car-park around London, aka the M25).

It would be nice to use the fuller features on my 9700 as the battery life on my WinMob is one of the reasons why I moved.

Even a beta release would be nice!

Its been over 3 months since your message Dan…just wondered if there was any update for Blackberry users :?:

Hi there,

I used to have a Windows mobile phone with Waze
I happily changed for a BB but sadly realized Waze was not available
I really like your application!
any update on future availability?

Thanks
Emmanuel

One was recently released, but not sure where it is and the link hasn’t been posted to the Announcements folder yet. Do a search.

Not sure if I’m violating some rules on beta’s but I have a blackberry buddie and just sent him an email with these links on the beta. I think this is the right site for the download but I don’t have/use blackberry. Also, I saw something about the default language being Hebrew but I think you need to reinstall and you then can choose your language. Good Luck

Willie: If you have a non-touchscreen blackberry. Am not a blackberry wiz but they talk about “We only support non touch, 8900 model and up”(??) … not sure if that includes you but…If so, you can download free app from this link using your blackberry.

So, if you want to give it a shot, we can compare notes this Thursday.

Say. Has anyone tried that link to the software? My buddie tried it and failed miserably.
If you succeeded, can you give a step by step on how you got it working and what model blackberry you use?

Thanks

Hi there, this is Dan, I’m in charge of blackberry here in waze.
Anyway, Scroll to m.waze.com from your BB browser, and you’ll get the current version - We support
BB non-touch versions ( touch versions will not work adequately ), from device version 8900 and up.

Enjoy, and let us know what you think.

Dan
