Waze over Google Maps

I notice on the forum that a lot of users get incorrect routes because of not enough users even in the US, so then I guess I should abandon hope of any usable routes in India for years to come?

Can’t Waze start off with/compare with Google Maps directions to begin with, and ideally apply its routing logic as per traffic, hazard etc. to provide a better route? That should be immensly useful and give a reason why I should use Waze over Google Maps.

Unfortunately that’s impossible. Google will neeeeeeeeeeever allow a competitor, i.c. Waze, to use their algorithms without paying a huge sum for that. The routing algorithm is not the problem though… routing on Waze works quite nice, as long as the maps are edited correctly. So try to gather as many Wazers in your area/country and start editing the maps. In the Netherlands there’s a growing community of active Wazers/Area Managers and routing is most often very accurate. Often even better than Google.

Just keep on Wazing… After some days, weeks you may get usable results for your daily rides. And try to recruit geeks around you. It will not pick up if you abandon it now!

And I think there is some bias in the complaints of the US-users, too. They have a problem using an unfinished product and rather complain than edit :')
