We’ve received a map update request to Waze support and we’re posting here on the user’s behalf. The link to this post will be forwarded for the user to follow up.
This is the user’s request:
"Packer Hill Ave. Jim Thorpe, PA 18229. should only be local traffic only or terminal road like google maps. It can’t handle the tourist traffic because it’s too narrow and there are utility poles in roadway. All traffic should be routed down Walnut Ave. to Liberty Rd. to Route 209 which takes you directly downtown Jim Thorpe which is what they are looking for. "
Please convey to the user that their request is beyond the scope of what we do as map editors. Since the road is a public road, we can’t prevent vehicles from being routed onto it.
If Wazers have to carefully drive along this street (the speed limit is 15mph, mind you), the Waze routing server will pick up on slow traffic and consider that data when generating future routes.
Mark the road as passage way. Google has it as local traffic only or terminal road so you only go there if you pick an address there.Traffic needs to go Walnut Ave and Liberty Rd to route 209. I’ve been working with local police and Carbon County GIS to get this resolved, there is too much tourist traffic in a residential area.It also causes a criss cross of traffic at bottom of hill at Hazard Square Rd. Thanks Troy B.
Yes, if it’s marked local only or no thru traffic we’d update the road type accordingly. That’s something to take up with your local municipality to put in place.
