Wazing in Winterpeg aka Winnipeg, Manitoba

It may be -30C here but we remain undeterred! Any other fellow peggers. I’m the area manager for Winnipeg and encourage anyone in Winnipeg to do their part and help put us on the map- literally!

Holler at me if you have any questions or concerns or need help getting started!

Thanks,
muchski

'Nother 'pegger here. I’d like to see a whole lot more of us in Winnipeg, because there’s a whole lot of empty spots on my map.

Fortunately, I spend a lot of time on the road, so I’ll be munchin’.

Definitely starting to see people sporadically on the map, today saw four users on at once. Someone reported a police trap today! NICE! I know of at least a dozen or so people that have used the app at least once according to some map reports!

What part of town do you cover most? I am getting better at editing and try to do as much as I can. I always drive with the app on and try to take new routes as often as possible, but it is important to do it only once, something I had to learn the hard way (10 red lines on one road! DOH!).

It’s really starting to come together. If everyone even edited 1 route they recorded or drive on it would go a very long way!

Today was so damn cold, eh? Super warm fall and now a super cold snap! Anything is possible in the peg!

Greets to fellow Canadian Wazers in the 'peg - been wazing in Montreal for almost 3 months now.

Anyone want to help with the French translation for the interface that I started … it’s in the Wiki.

Let’s raise our voice for a dedicated Canada forum.

Ok I edited a lot of the major routes both geometry, intersections, and making them into primary streets, so a lot of the previously mapped roads are now visible when zoomed out further.

Encourage all your smartphone friends to give this app a shot as well and we will have live traffic and beautiful maps in Winnipeg in no time!

How you can help Winnipeg:

  1. turn on Waze every time you drive, not only does this provide live traffic but roads get munched and improved over time

  2. if you are somewhere where there isn’t a road, please record it! But only record it once otherwise the map gets filled with tons of red lines, they can always be deleted later so when it doubt, RECORD!

  3. Give the cartouche map editor a whirl and maybe start off slow and fix some stuff along your daily route and do as little or as much as you please. But the more we all put in, the more we all get out!
