Hi, I have now had several incidents where the road is closed and where the nav is showing clear with no alternative route. there used to be a road closed button on the actions tab but this is no longer there.

There still is. Just to confirm - you’re using the app and not in-car like CarPlay or Android Auto?
Hi, sorry yes this is on car play only.
It seems very silly that if you are driving and come to a junction where you need to turn down and its blocked you need to reroute around it but if you cant tell WAZE via the car play it keeps directing you back the same way. Its not ideal to have to find somewhere to pull over, disconnect your phone from the car and then press the closed road marker on the app.
Can this be fixed?
Yes. Developers would need to figure out how to do it in CarPlay (limited interactions compared to phone).
If you look at this suggestion in Uservoice, you’ll see it’s planned.
