Does anyone know why we no longer have the option to report speed cameras?
The camera reporting functionality in the app was broken for some time, and when it was working, the interface didn’t allow for accurate reports. In addition, there were many uninformed drivers that incorrectly reported other cameras (security, traffic monitoring, signal sensors, etc) as enforcement cameras, which caused clutter or damage to the map.
If you want to report cameras from the app, use the REPORT > Map issue function, and describe the issue, or reply to the inbox messages when prompted later.
(You can also post here, and the volunteers who monitor the forum will add them on your behalf.)
Thank you for explaining and providing a way to still provide the information.
This article speaks of NYPD sending a “cease-and-desist” letter to Google last year. Waze is a SOCIAL app. Posts about cameras (speeding, red light, etc) monitored by the drivers (respectfully audited by you, the admins) and verified by other drivers so that bs reports would not get a"thumbs up" was working.
Bring the cameras button back. Remove points for reporting cameras something but the cameras actually kept all drivers safe…NYPD was only losing their shakedowns… uh revenue.
BRING. THE. CAMERA. BUTTONS. BACK. PLEASE!!!
seriously.
ok. im done.
thanks
Unfortunately, nobody here has the power to bring the camera buttons back. Waze staff doesn’t follow this forum. I would recommend that you use nzahn1’s suggestions above, which will work. You can also post in theWaze Suggestion Box (or upvote a similar suggestion, if any are there) that Waze staff will see.
In addition, the camera reporting function and the “cease and desist” requests from whatever police department have nothing to do with each other.
