Windsor's Herb Gray Parkway Opening

A major change in Windsor will require some extensive editing work for Level 5 or higher editors. A significant part of the 401 extension, the Herb Gray Parkway, will open this Sunday, June 28. This is the major route connecting to the US and therefore its update is a high priority.

“An approximate eight-kilometre stretch of the new 11-kilometre below-grade highway will open initially to traffic — extending Highway 401 for the first time from around North Talbot Road in Tecumseh to Labelle Street in South Windsor.”

Do you live in Windsor, ON? Would you be able to pave this highway from scratch.

All you have to do is “Report > Map Issue > Pave Road” drive the road in both directions, preferably in the far right lanes so we have a good separation.

If you can pave the road, I can help do the rest.

I’m prepared to delete the current “Herb Gray Pkwy (CONST ZONE)”, which has absolutely no source for guidance. Also using deprecated tags.

Is there anyone here that has eyes-on to this particular highway? It’s 3hrs one-way from my place.

bump?

What is the bump for?
We need someone who is local and know what is open and how to connect the new segments.

HM.

I created the bump for the original poster or if anyone else here is near this area.

It’s really unfortunate, we do not have active local editors in the Windsor area. Hwy 404 extension was mapped on same day.

I will try to engage the update requests around the freeway, and see if we can get some local drivers to pave the freeway.

edit: found a YouTube video of someone doing a drive along the new freeway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0Eh4q7aSHk

May help with us with setting up exit signage.

Unfortunately, it suggests that not all of the freeway is actually open.

Are we allowed to use the construction maps?

Otherwise, the GPS traces are fairly dense right now, you could start making a first pass of paving it at least.

The Parkway is open to LaBelle St, where Talbot Rd ‘opens up’ in the middle. (http://blogs.windsorstar.com/news/herb-gray-parkway-opening-this-weekend-to-traffic)

Updated the highway to the best of my ability using WindsorSwingKid(1) paved roads. The videos were also helpful with the exit signage.

WindsorSwingKid(1) paved roads were consistent with the GPS trace/points

Really sad to see a major border-crossing city not get any attention; there is a huge imbalance between the # of active users vs. active editors there.
