ZA Wiki - Toll Roads

I have added a Toll Roads section to the ZA Wiki with a separate link to the Toll Booths and Plazas (South Africa) Wiki page.
This should be a complete list of all the toll points, and includes a WME Permalink to each booth.
The permalinks for the Ramp booths currently does not list each ramp seperately, but will present a view that includes both booths. I’ll likely split them out later to the individual ramp booths.

I will still add a section that includes all of the individual e-Toll Gantries as well, but that will require some more work. This should enable us to easily mark & check each of the 50+ gantries if SANRAL gets their way.

If there are any Mainline or Ramp plazas/booths that I missed that might have been added recently and is not listed on SANRAL or the concessionary sites, please let me know - the N17 comes to mind with out-of date aerials.
I have them in a spreadsheet, and the Wikitable code, including the permalinks, is all generated from there so it’s very little PT to add one or two more & update the complete list.

The idea is to get the Toll Avoidance option active for South Africa. I’m just waiting for feedback from Waze Support, re the marking of “All of the toll route” vs. just “flagging road sections where transponders and booths” are located.
This is after some discussion in the Consecutive Toll Segments Create Cumulative Penalties? thread, where the Wiki info seems to clash with what Waze support recommends.

Whups, quick update:

I just saw this post from Shirlig, and confirmed that we now indeed have the “Avoid toll roads” option active in the client :
https://world.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23318&p=365339&hilit=toll+roads+south+Africa#p365339

I was hoping to get some confirmation from support re the consecutive toll roads as well before it’s activated.
If there are any stray segments flagged as being tolled, please let us know immediately if you can not remove the flag yourself. This could mean that routes could now be discarded that should NOT be avoided if the ‘avoid tolls’ option in the Waze client is active.

With the setting enabled in the client, it does look like Tolls are not presented at all as alternatives for some routes if there are more than one alternative.

Just a quick routing test - Sandton area to Bela-Bela, this is what is presented :
With avoid tolls active :
2h 07min @ 156Km - via N4 East & R101
2h 08min @ 153Km - via R101 & N1

Without avoid tolls option:
1h 42min @ 158Km - via N1 North; R101 (Toll flag indicated on route)
1h 50min @ 177Km - via R21 North; N1 North (Toll flag indicated on route)
1h 40min @ 160Km - via N1 North (Toll flag indicated on route)

Looks like Waze does an excellent job of totally avoiding flagged roads !

Well done. I need to make sure the toll roads in my area are marked
