Well we can’t do what they ask for. Waze has no “keep to middle lanes” instruction.
Getting “exit left” for the left turn and “keep right” for the right turn is easy, and happening already. The question is, what to do with the middle option. At present, it too is getting “exit left”, specifically “exit left onto Burmantofts St”. (Yes I know the reporter said “keep right” but I think this is not the case).
Maybe it would be better silent? - after all sticking in the middle lanes following a straight-ahead arrow in the road doesn’t normally prompt an instruction. However, the more major traffic flow around to the right to join the A64 also has a straight-ahead arrow at this point.
I think “exit left” is definitely inappropriate. I see the choice as being between silence and a “keep left”. If going for “keep left”, it would be better if it conformed to the signage, so I’d add “towards St. James Hospital” to the present “keep left onto Burmantofts St”.
Either way, one way to make the change is to start by cutting the primary street segment after 6m or so. We want a short segment immediately after the split, as short as possible, but anything less than 5m can (allegedly) confuse the router.
If we want silence, then just change the new short segment to be a Major Highway. It will then become the “natural continuation”, as it has the same rank and name (i.e. unnamed) as the preceding segment.
If we want “keep left”, then the new segment will need a name. I’d go for “Burmantofts St > St. James Hospital” (“>” is read as “towards”). One good reason for keeping the segment short is to minimise the chance of this name displaying on the map. Another way of stopping the name appearing would be to make the segment a ramp (ramp names only appear in instructions, never on the app map), but then we’d get “exit left” rather than “keep left”.
Irrespective of these changes, there are a couple more I’d like to see.
The left exit is described as “exit left onto entry to A64 west” (picking up the next non-blank segment name). I’d prefer to see “entry to A64 (W)” changed in accordance with the current guidelines to “A64 > Skipton”.
Then the right-hand route is described as “keep right onto A653 - Marsh Lane”. But Marsh Lane is the road the driver is on, not the destination. I’d prefer to see all the “A653 - Marsh Ln” names after the split blanked out, leaving the instructions to pick up the slip name “A64 > York”.
Have you picked up on the Junction Angle Info script? It’s great for checking this sort of issue, as it colour-codes turns for silence, keep, exit etc.
Just my opinions, I’m sure somebody will be along with some different ideas. :?

I would think if you need to be in the middle lane we make that the silent part as looking where user came from he naturally be in the middle lane and naming it would Burmantofts St > St. James Hospital would help or if he going straight on will waze not mention that?
I thought I start simple and just make the middle road straight, I did not save it but even when setting the angle to 0 the angle script showed it as left and was coloured blue. It might be best to let an expert make the changes and I sit back and see what it looks like as a proper finished solution. Or am i missing something simple
Waze has no “go straight ahead” direction (except occasionally for roundabouts) and if it gives no direction it won’t mention the road name.
I’ve tinkered and got it silent for straight ahead, with “exit left” and “keep right” for the other directions. If you want to follow the logic, rather than just experiment and see what colour Junction Angle Info goes, wading through the interactive algorithm can help.

Interesting link. I might pick your brain later on a notorious crossing, it might need some algorithm magic, if that’s ok with you.
