Earlier this year, we shared our plans for Loyalty and Gamification, and now, we’d like to share an update, as our plans changed recently:
Our original plan was to launch the first phase of the new gamification system in Q3, 2023:
It was meant to have a new set of badges and achievements for all Waze users, with themes, worlds and community challenges.
In early Q3, the team that led those efforts changed leadership, and we decided to spread resources differently.
How did this affect our plans for Gamification?
The plan now is to start by creating achievement celebrations for new Wazers to motivate them to drive more with Waze.
Starting with this specific audience, new Wazers, will allow us to test the impact of this system and decide about additional investment - whether we should expand it to more experienced Wazers, gradually rolling up through the user groups, all the way up to you, our super users.
What about the Scoreboard that was removed from the app?
We’re working on creating a web-based replacement and hope to share more about it by the end of 2023.
