Any easily way to link from Google Map to Waze?

Hi there guys

Is there any easy way to link or copy locations from Google Maps to Waze ?

Lots of apps on my Android use Google Maps as default client, like Whatsapp for example. When someone send me their location, I can’t open it in Waze only g.maps, and worst part, most of the locations are not recognize by Waze search, if I try to key them in manually.

For example, I’m in Kuala Lumpur and try to get to Pasar Selayang, is the biggest wet market in the country, whether I look for Pasar Selayang (Selayang Market) or Jalan Selayang Baru (Selayang Baru Street), Waze yields no results, in fact the only results are unrelated in not even remotely similar locations. Most of which use the name JALAN (Road or Street) as a search word, giving me bunch of roads I don’t care about.

Seriously, many times I find myself on a road side, wasting time looking for place. Then I call the client and ask for any bigger roads near by, or landmarks, hoping such generic locations will be listed in search.
It’s really frustrating. I spent the last hour trying to find location to my friends wedding. End up running the phone along with google maps on the laptop, and follow google map direction scroll by scroll, and placing a PIN bookmark on Waze to plot the rout. That by the way, is such a pain in ass.

Have you thought about editing your area to make it available in Waze?

The reason I use Waze is because I’m a foreigner in this country. I can’t find my way to most of the places yet, not to mention ability to pronounce the road names so people could understand me. Might not be good idea if I were to edit the map myself  Some of you could end up wondering around Curiosity Rover

I didn’t realize you were a visitor.

Just a little follow up on the topic.

I found my way to the wet market, the same way I described earlier to my friend’s wedding location.
Scroll by scroll along google map on my computer, and placing a pin.

This is what I find interesting. Waze has the road and the wet market on its map.

This is location about 10km from my home. But when I search for the very words on the map, using the place name or road, this is the results I get:

Pasir Gudang 318km away

I don’t understand that.
Why ?

What do the other search engines return? Any thing from Google or Bing?

Waze doesn’t return search results for landmarks within their own database. They rely on other search providers to bring back the location/POI data.

It’s even worse than Waze search. All very unrelated, not even containing any of the words I search for (mostly).

Yes, understand that. But I try to search actual road name, same road name showing on the map, it won’t find it. As I said in earlier reply, I use google map and scroll by scroll along with Waze’s map, find the place… then put in Favoritres. Once I find the spot on the map, I do the road names I was looking for and yet it doesn’t come up in search results.

Anyway, for now I will be manually scrolling, with google maps help.

cheers

I would also want to know this, I read that Waze can take in coordinates, however I can’t seem to get it to work, for example, if I found a place on the google maps, I can do a “what’s here” to show the GPS location, say
3.078702,101.601817

However, when I enter the above into Waze, or replacing the dots with commas and commas with semi colon, like:
3,078702;101,601817
It still doesn’t point me to the correct place.

If waze can take in coordinates, it will be very useful, I can imagine an android app where we can share from Google Maps to GPS coordinates and share it to Waze for navigation.

Try longitude, latitude.

Not site where your from but if your from the northern hemisphere and your phone is as well, then it might be a problem with the coordinates needing to be swapped around so they will work in the southern hemisphere.

Like northern is like 0 to 100

Southern is -100 to -0

Then latitude is the same thing as well look it up so its correct.

Now waze can take in coordinates. Just enter the coordinates.
3.078702,<space>101.601817 - Right
3,078702;101,601817 - Wrong

This app does the trick!

Share from Google Map > This App > Select Send to Waze

Voila!

Enjoy! =)

Thanks a lot. Great suggestion/advice.

There’s an app on App Store that does this:https://apps.apple.com/us/app/maps4you/id1632049180?platform=iphoneJust share the google maps link to the app and you’ll be able to open it in Waze!

If you have a telegram you can use the bot to convert the links.
