At some point ‘Wilstock Village’ and ‘Stockmoor Village’ were created in Somerset.
These are newish housing estates still being built. However both are within North Petherton which is how I originally named roads etc.
First of all the ‘villages’ are named as ‘Wilstock Village’ and ‘Stockmoor’ locally for marketing reasons. Note Stockmoor is not Stockmoor Village.
They do not appear in the Gazetteer.
On OS maps - they are called as ‘Willstock Village’ and ‘Stock Moor’ primarily because they were farms and established. Note the different spellings for both. (Bloor Homes actually named it wrong with one l as the road in is called Willstock Way) But they are within North Petherton for all electoral purposes. All very confusing!! I have one of my properties on one of them, so know exactly my address haha
I have created a request to alter roads outside of Stockmoor which included the M5 and A38 back to North Petherton as these have never been in the new ‘village’.
Personally I would rather it be North Petherton as this is accurate IMHO, but if kept Stockmoor Village needs changing to Stockmoor.
Need advise as to what to do.

You say they’re not in the Gazeteer, so that’s one strike against new names.
Second strike is “locally, for marketing reasons”. The majority of Waze users who encounter them won’t be local, so it won’t mean much to them.
The other thing I would be looking for is actual road signs. And I don’t mean signs put up by the developers, but signs put up by the local authority. If there are no “boundary boards” at the edge of the notional villages, then I’d count that as a third - quite big - strike against them.

No boundary boards, but directional signs do exist to Stockmoor and Wilstock Village, but that is true of several new larger estates around here. The signs exist because of the exit being on a roundabout on the A38 which also contains the motorway services. So fully expected, especially as the developers paid a lot for works on the roundabout haha
North Petherton surrounds the new estates as well, so they are not out in the countryside per se. Bridgwater starts further down the A38 with a boundary sign, but this is beyond the boundary of Stockmoor.
Locally people refer to the names, but all are firmly within North Petherton for anything official.
Just need to know what to do as currently it is wrong with Stockmoor showing as Stockmoor Village at the very least.
Happy to leave it as Wilstock Village and change the other to Stockmoor, but I did think that if it is not listed in the Gazetteer we didn’t add it. Perhaps I am wrong. Always happy to be wrong and learn
The developers text should be treated strictly as marketing blurb.
“Wilstock Village is an impressive development … in North Petherton, close to the bustling market town of Bridgwater.” as hinting towards a village location sells houses.

I would suggest that the the new estates are actually just new suburbs of Bridgwater (like Hamp and Sydenham) rather than anything to do with North Petherton.
The postal addresses would tend to agree as just come under Bridgwater; e.g.

BRIDGWATER
TA5 2EZ
One oddity on OS Maps though is if you zoom in is that the new names disappear and instead you get ‘Stock Moor’, two words.

The postal address is I agree in Bridgwater, but then so is North Petherton.
For electoral and other services it comes under North Petherton.
Stock Moor is a very old area, as is Willstock (two Ls) - all on old maps due to two farms that still exist to some degree. The developers incorrectly named the estate as Wilstock, so much so that the main road in is spelt ‘correctly’ with 2 Ls.
All very confusing.
Anyway IMHO as it is not in the Gazetter then it should not be in Waze otherwise where do we draw the line with housing estates. There is no church or community hall (a usual factor in a village). There is a school in Stockmoor and half a dozen shops, but no school or shops in Wilstock.
Unless anyone has any objection, I will start to rename them back to North Petherton. When the new commercial development is built on part of the site, the entrance to this will be on the A38 towards North Petherton, and Wilstock is moving slowly towards North Petherton as well with new houses being started this month.
