Call to arms - help needed with event closures

Starting this weekend is the OVO Energy Tour of Britain cycle race, with extensive rolling road closures along several hundred miles of roads over 8 days. Unfortunately, the nature of the editor request forum means that, having now responded to the topic myself, other editors aren’t also paying it the attention it deserves and needs if we’re to have any hope of getting even the most significant closures in place in time for each day of racing.

Having spent something like 6 hours adding the closures for day 1, and now suffering from a severe case of ohmigodnonotanotherrtctoadditis, I think I can confidently say there’s not a snowballs chance in hell of me getting the rest of the closures added in time. So any editors with the necessary rights to add RTCs along any of the roads affected by days 2-8, and with the patience to work your way along the route figuring out what a reasonable closure window is for each segment (unlike some other events where road closure times are predefined and therefore relatively easy to add in WME, this one is all rolling closures based on the predicted times when the race will reach each point), please have a read through of the request forum post linked below, and chip in with whatever help you can.

I’ve done the tail end of Stage 7, sadly all the rest is out of area :frowning:
All I can offer now is moral support…

This is where Waze falls down. Relies too much on community for essential closure and information where Google seems to get it done live.

Would help if I could, but it’s all too far norf for my soft southern editing rights apart from some of the parts of Stage 7 which jonv-uk has already picked up :lol:

It would help greatly if there was a database/spreadsheet we could utilise to add road closures to whole roads at a time (and let waze determine which direction the segments go in for it to be effective)

With the event now under way, I’m pleased to say we’re over halfway through adding in all the closure mileage, so a big thanks to the editors who’ve helped us get this far. With days 1-4 completely mapped out, this now buys us a bit of time to get the remaining closures all finished off - fingers crossed!
