[Closure] Chester Marathon 02-Oct-2016 [Help required!]

Chester Marathon closes a number of roads this Sunday 2nd October.
I’ve created the event in WME but as a lowly level 2, I can’t close any roads.

Here’s a start on some of the segments that need closing off…

Sadly now I have to leave this in limbo, I won’t get chance to revisit before it’s too late.
So I’m leaving you to continue down Wrexham Rd to B5102, then back up B5130 to Chester (all closures fully listed in the TTO and the nice detailed marathon route pdf).

Thanks in advance if someone does get chance to pick up the baton and put in all the closures, I do hope Chester’s other residents and visitors are as grateful…

I hate to think how Waze would fall apart without you and the small core team of senior UK editors keeping things running.

It’s a pity there’s no way I could help more actually inputting the closures (being quicker than faffing with selecting segments and collating everything in a forum post, then relying on a higher level to action them). Realistically I’m never hitting 25k edits or whatever’s needed to be a level 3, and I understand why you’d be anxious to allow just anyone to close off major routes.

Might be nice to have a pending/review system for edits in Waze, so lower levels could do the grunt work before being quickly approved by higher level, but I doubt that’d ever materialise…

The links you gave to start off with were a great help. But, as it turns out they slowed me down with hindsight! :lol:

After I’d finished doing the links, I turned to the map from the Marathon organisers. When I saw it was 5 “zones” of closure, it got much quicker. I could set the correct closure on the first segment of a zone, then clone that closure along the rest of the segments as I went. Then start the next zone.

However, I understand the problem of providing permalinks over a large area, when the permalinks don’t work when you zoom out. I appreciate the work you did to provide what you did.
