Chicago Level 3 help re-construction

Hello, I’ve reported this but seems it’s not going into the Waze system. On Irving Park Rd and the North Shore Canal bridge has been under construction for ages yet Waze seems to want to always send me to cross that bridge. The bridge is ONLY 2 lanes not (one in each direction on the south part of the bridge) and NOT 4 lanes. I have no idea how much longer this will last but its been ages and it’s missing a while section so I’m guessing it will be a good 2-4+ months before it reopens. Can anyone please put something to show it’s under construction AND it’s only 1 lane in each direction so the app stops directing people towards it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,only certain high level editors have the ability to set hazard alerts that don’t expire. Unfortunately, that system is not very reliable at this point.

As for avoiding the bridge, if even one lane is open, there’s nothing editors can do to prevent that routing. Apologies, but it’s beyond our control.

John, Thanks for your help with moving it to the Il Forum.

Ehepner, I know and have seen the hazard alerts put up as Chicago is just full of them and when they start it can be years before it ends. I know this also really helps out as often Waze knows not to send you via that route unless really needed.

The hazard alerts you see are usually user generated and will expire unless several users give them a thumbs up before the set time. Like I said, high level editors have the ability to add them in a more permanent fashion, but there are several bugs in the system that make them almost useless when added manually. They also have zero effect on routing. What does effect routing is the speed of traffic along the route, and if there’s a hazard, usually traffic is affected as well. In your particular case, given that the routing is ongoing despite the construction, it’s very likely that all other alternate routes are unattractive to the routing server. Without delving into the proprietary details, the routing server looks at free flow of traffic, historical and current traffic speeds, and several other factors to determine the “best” route. Occasionally, this is not the same as the fastest route at that moment. So, I’d really like to help you out, but there’s nothing that can be done.
