[CLOSED] Level3→L2 Unlock: 평택시 PyeongTaek-Si (군문교 삼거리)

My Level: 2
Reason for request: need to simplify this intersection. westbound 평남로 PyeongNam-Ro should only be a single 2-way road leading into the intersection, but instead it is unnecessarily represented by 4 one-way roads, over-complicating the map.

This road connection was one of the issue that I’ve had to put a lot thoughts before connecting them. One of the major concern was that if all three roads were connected without considering turn rules, there were possibilities for driver to take left turn as (keep straight) or right turn to be (best continuance).

Below link takes you where the waze determines turns and exit manuevers:

And here is a great chrome app that will help you to see each turns would directed to turn/keep/exits:

i agree. although my personal experience with this intersection tells me only two of the entrances are “best continuance”, it might be easiest to do a three-way intersection in the middle for each of the left turns (all of them “best continuance”) and three additional “ramp style” one-way segments for each of the right turns with 90 degree doglegs as appropriate.

example (red is two-way, orange is one-way):

  1. I completely agree to your thoughts. I’ve checked the image and this would be very much identical to what I’ve done on 3 way streets to cover the turn logics: http://imgur.com/vpAxtB6

  2. But as I have been working to set up for the best road creation rules for Korea, I have been thinking to put “two one ways” in place. Basically if the road has more than 5 lanes, users would have to create double one-ways on each sides. (I’ve spotted multiple navigational error occuring where two way road are just too far from where you’re actually driving.)
This would be the solution I’ve come up with. http://imgur.com/nlwHw7b

Seeing how these three roads have more than 5 lanes, I was actually hesitating to make the change. Since there’s just too many work and I’ve been occupied with my life… :frowning:

Anyways, let’s take your suggestion in place the turn rules as No. 1 out of my reply and see how we can change it back later.

Thanks again for your suggestion!

personally i think your #2 suggestion is the cleanest design, both from a mapmaking perspective as well as a navigational one. but it would also mean converting the segments leading into the intersection into one-ways as well. besides, only the road coming in from the right side is truly divided with a proper barrier, and i don’t think the intersection is complex enough to warrant the creation of one-ways going everywhere.

also wasn’t sure if you wanted me to make the change or not. there’s additional segments that would need to be unlocked anyway: https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=row&lon=127.08053&lat=36.98219&zoom=6&segments=295865900,296117770,295865908

What do you say that we stay on #1 until we set up a date to re-do the big roads for #2?

okay, i will make a three-way intersection per your #1, with right turn “ramps” added to preserve the usage data within the existing segments. i see your avatar in the area, so hit me up on chat for further guidance. thanks!

Ok, sounds great. My number’s 010-2746-2813, feel free to add me over the Waze.
