Hi there. I’d like help with correcting an address. 1A Barkly St, Brunswick East. 1A Barkly St Fitzroy North is the same address. It displays correctly in Google maps and openstreetmap, but on Waze it’s in the wrong location. Could someone please assist?
Could you confirm that this is the correct location that Waze should be routing to please?
You will see the boundary between Brunswick East and Fitzroy North is Nicholson St. So this location clearly falls in Brunswick East only.
I have just test the address in Waze app and it shows and routes to the location in the image (north west of Barkly St / Nicholson St intersection.
If I select 1A Barkly St, Fitzroy North in Waze it directs me to a location south east of that intersection.
Is this the behaviour you experience?
Or could you let me know what happens for you so I can investigate it please?
On further investigation 1 Barkly St, Fitzroy North is also a valid address to the north east of Barkly St / Nicholson St intersection.
For some reason it was chosen to start numbering Barkly St Brunswick East westbound from Nicholson St
While also start numbering Barkly St Fitzroy North eastbound from Nicholson St.
Yes it’s quite confusing. 1 Barkly St is a valid address east of Nicholson st, and actually in Fitzroy North… 1A Barkly St is West of Nicholson St. 1A Barkly St is entirely within Brunswick East, but a search for 1A Barkly St Fitzroy North still intends this address. I’ve now updated in Google Maps.
The location you posted in your first reply is almost correct, except that 1A Barkly St comprises the entire block of townhouses, rather than just the individual unit you have highlighted in blue. Thanks for your help.
1 Barkly St Brunswick East is also valid (in front of 1a Barkly St Brunswick East).
However over in Fitzroy North the block appears to be standard (not split).
Therefore selecting 1a Barkly St, Fitzroy North is selecting an address that is not valid.
Is this the case?

I submitted change requests to GM to move the pin location for 1A Barkly St (searches for both Brunswick East and Fitzroy North) to the correct location west of Nicholson Street. The second of these requests was accepted yesterday and as of now Waze seems to be navigating to the right location in both instances.
So, I think this is now resolved by updating GM.
And just for clarity, yes, there is technically no valid address “1A Barkly St, Fitzroy North” but because of the proximity of the suburb border, people sometimes use Fitzroy North/Brunswick East interchangeably.
The end result of this issue is a lot of deliveries and ubers etc to the wrong location, but fingers crossed it is fixed now.
