It’s frustrating with how restrictive Waze is. I’ve performed a lot of valuable map edits in the past, but I’m now back at level 1 after taking a break! I can’t edit a section of the map to show it’s closed due to construction. To top it off part of the map is level 5 and the other is level 3. Waze needs to stop the folks who are “control freaks” who are the local experts. Please give me back my editing rights so I can fix the roads for everyone’s benefits
First off, welcome back to the world of map editing. We’re glad to have you back.
Though I feel I understand where you’re coming from, please know that those restrictions exists to protect the map from editors who may have the best (or in some cases, the worst) intentions, but where harm is caused to the map nonetheless.
What rank were you prior to departing the editing hobby? You’re right that inactivity does decreases your rank as guidance changes over time.
But as far as the phrase is concerned where you state “part of the map is level 5 and the other is level 3,” roads are locked at respectable levels, depending on functional classification. As far as places are concerned, some places are locked at a lower level than others, depending on significance.

There have been instances when someone thinks they are logging back into their old account but in fact they are creating a new one with the same name. If this is the case you would essentially be starting over. But if you were able to get back to the old account you might be able to get some of your rank back. Are you sure you’re logged into your old account?
