After much hard work by our own Gil and the editors community Beacons are now live in the Holland Tunnel, Lincoln Tunnel, Queens-Midtown Tunnel, and Hugh L. Carey (Brooklyn Battery) Tunnel in New York city!
This means that drivers can still navigate in tunnels even when GPS is not available, reducing congestion and accidents caused by confused drivers.
Waze, MTA, and PANYNJ hosted a press conference at the Port Authority’s in New York City yesterday morning, 3 members of the community (orbitc, rfrsw101, and Jdelosa) were invited to the event as they were instrumental in getting the Beacons installed in the tunnels.
