EV Charging points - A new UK Project

Agree 100% with the changes made. Thanks

AAAH. What happened to all the permalinks in the spreadsheet :!:

Err, is it me or have all the Permalinks disappeared from the GSheet?? Looking at the Version History, they were there at 12:10 and gone by 12:14…
Martin

I think this may have been me pushing the wrong button. All back now.
Sorry.

Whatever you do, don’t press that bu…

Not sure if I’ve missed a reply to this. I’ll approve this one - because it’s definitely there, I’ve walked past it. Number of chargers should be 2, though, not 1 as listed.

We have not been given any guidance on how to report PURs that aren’t on the Sheet, Waze are under the impression that they should match exactly. What that PUR links to is unknown even though it is clear part of the import.

We have come across several examples of PURs ā€œmissingā€ and PURs appearing in WME with no corresponding Sheet entry.

As it says on wazeopedia;

Are we to post these here or is there another method you’d like us to use?

I cannot find a charger here and also can’t find that this PUR is referenced on the sheet: Permalink

Nothing on VendElectric site. It may be in the Children’s Hospital underground car park but I can’t find any evidence.

Is now a good time to admit I saw all these PURs and just dived right in (about 4 days ago) :? I didn’t think to look on the forums for a possible post about it. I’ve okayed well over 1000 PURs in that time in SE England. My chances of finding any on a google sheet are slim to non-existent.

Sorry if I’ve inadvertently mucked up your system. Oops

Ian

James has very kindly knocked together a GPX file which places a reference to the Google Sheet entry next to each PUR. If you throw that GPX file into WME Geometries, it’ll show the Google Sheet row number next to each one - I’m sure it won’t take you too long to find the 1000 or so that you need to flag up in the GSheet

@Challenger3802 simply put that was a stupid thing to do. As an Area Manager you are expected to participate in the forums and be proactive in new features and projects that Waze are bringing to the Editor and App every year. Considering you edit in multiple countries this is highly concerning as each has different methods of mapping. You total lack of care about this simple highlights your disinterest in the UK Community.

…

Here’s the link to the map showing Shell Recharge charging stations, particularly those branded as Community by Shell Recharge. The one on Wazeopedia only shows those at motorway service stations. Are you able to update the link @atrophicshiner or maybe create a separate line? I’ve come across quite a lot of these.

Working through some of the EVCS PURs in rural Wales, I’ve come across a couple which simply don’t exist (PUR in the middle of a field with no likely location anywhere near, for example). Can’t see anything on the Wazeo which covers a ā€œDoesn’t existā€ scenario, so what’s the protocol? Accept PUR, change to Private, amend description accordingly? Or don’t accept, leave a MC?

Use the problem catagory, and comment - doesn’t exit. Reject the PUR.

Are you using James’s gpx layer, does it have a line number against it that can help ID it? I’ve just found one that’s supposed to be located in Cranfield, Bedford, but the PUR has been placed somewhere in Essex!

I’m using James’s data, yes - and it’s extremely useful. If it wasn’t for that, there are quite a few that would’ve been a right old pain in the hoop to find on the spreadsheet.

I can see that ā€œweā€ are making progress on the spreadsheet but there are still plenty to do. Looking across (mostly rural) West Wales I’m seeing a lot on the map that are ā€œRestrictedā€ because they’re in car parks of e.g. hotels. I’ve so far concentrated on approving the ā€œPublicā€ ones that I can verify in Streetview or the Aerial images. I don’t have plans to start driving the length and breadth of Wales checking on them physically and there aren’t recent enough Streetview images for some places.
I’m thus looking for a steer from the champs as to what to do about the ones I can’t check in these ways? I’ve looked at some of the web sites for the service providers and most haven’t been very detailed about locations. If the Restricted ones won’t be surfaced in Waze any time soon then how much time should we spend on them?
Thanks
Martin

We are in a slight bind as we’ve been told to take the source data on face value but I’ve found 1 bp pulse location only 81 miles out of position, so currently I can’t trust locations without proof. I’ve generally been working on the basis, if I can’t find it in aerials, SV, network maps, or cough other sources* cough, within a couple of minutes I move on to another location.

As for Restricted locations, I have been approving them when locations can be quickly established as we are trying to reach 50% coverage before Waze will open this feature in the app, so every location helps.

To aid in this you may wish to concentrate on the easier providers, such as InstaVolt, Pod Point, GRIDSERVE, char.gy, Tesla, whose locations are accurate and trustworthy. If anyone has formed opinions on the other providers feel free to shout up so I can add it to the Wazeo resource table.

*ZapMap is useful for user images which gives hints to the charger location but can’t be used to copy information

The Ubitricity lampost chargers in London, e.g. here: https://goo.gl/maps/5gSi6nskjJGjwN4m7
These have all been imported as ā€œRestrictedā€ by default. I can’t see any reason why these aren’t Public, the Ubitricity website says anyone can use them, so I’m going to start adding them as Public unless anyone sees a reason why not…
Also, there are often a few of these on the same street, so I guess the charger name will have to include the street number.
