Events appear twice in the list

I’m seeing an issue with the event dropdown box when adding a closure to a segment; it has more results in the list than I would expect.

For example:

Beta

Prod

Note, these screenshots were taken in the exact same location, the only difference in beta/prod.

Issues:

  • There are duplicate events, but I am unable to find duplicates when looking in the events panel
  • Events not in this area are being displayed (ignoring some of the statewide events present)

Thanks.

Hi @LostInMyMaps,

Thank you for reporting this issue. I can confirm that I also see duplicated events in your area on both WME Beta and Prod. I’m rechecking this behavior with the team and will update you once I have more information.

Could you please elaborate on this statement and share some specific examples?

What I was trying to say was, the Festival of the Winds event, for example, was a polygon-based event and not in close proximity to where I had scrolled to on the map. I was surprised to see it in the list of events I could add my closures to, given it is so far away.

Thank you @LostInMyMaps for the quick reply. Could you please share a link to the location where you see the duplicate Festival of the Winds event? If you’re able to record a video, that would be even more helpful.

We were able to find the Warringah Freeway Upgrade event, but not the one mentioned above.

Many thanks in advance!

I’m getting now the opposite. An event shows twice occasionally. Not sure how to reproduce.

Hi @searchjaunt,

I have moved your case to this bug report, as we have already received similar reports and I am rechecking the details with the team.

Could you please share a link to the location where you observed two events?

Thank you in advance!

Hi,
It was at this location, but as said it is hard to reproduce as a refresh solves the issue/

Hi @searchjaunt, @LostInMyMaps,

I need your assistance to recheck one of our hypotheses about the root cause of the issue: do you see duplicates in the list for events that you created on the same day?

Thanks in advance!
Nataliia

No sure if I understand the question correctly, but I create an event right before I create the closures for that event.

Sadly I can no longer replicate this part of the problem. And the duplicates I saw are now gone. :frowning:

Hey @searchjaunt,

Sorry for not being clear enough. What we believe is happening is that the duplicated names appear in the list for events created on the same day. For example, if you create an event today called “Road works #1, then when you start adding closures and select the related event, you will see two entries for “Road works #1 in the list.

This seems to happen due to some cache issues. The team is already working on fixing this misbehavior.

I just wanted to check if you are experiencing the same issue.

Thank you @LostInMyMaps for the answer. Could you please keep an eye on the problem? It would also be greatly appreciated if you could help confirm or reject the following hypothesis: duplicated events in the list appear only for those created on the same day.

Regards,
Nataliia

Yes, that does seem to be true.

Experienced that yesterday. Steps I took:

  1. Created an event
  2. Put in a closure - noticed that there were 2 events of the same name. Did not continue
  3. Refreshed my Chrome tab
  4. Put in a closure - noticed that the duplicate is now gone.
