Here’s some information approved to be communicated… :
First, we have no information about when features will be available.
About edition
Developers are working on systems to detect errors during edition and detect “bad editors”.
Some new automatic map errors will are studied.
Service roads will be removed and replaced by streets.
Pedestrian broadwalk will be replaced by walking trails.
A new road type will be added : the minor freeway.
A junction editor will be added : the junction box, to help editing complexe junctions.
Waze is not allowed anymore to use Bing APIs or aerials.
Routing
Waze calculates real time speed of segments but identifying a traffic jam is something difficult and depends on many inputs (as on a same segments several type of vehicles can have different speeds or different behavior.)
The colors shown on the clients for the traffic are only a visual information and not used for routing. The routing only use real time speed and average speeds of segments. A route with visible traffic can still be the fastest route.
Better handling of different speed on the same segment (sometimes the exit speed when turning is faster or slower than the speed of vehicles that stay on the same road.
The programmable restrictions that are already available in the beta editors will always require a tile rebuild.
It will be possible to close a road temporarily like on the client, and this one will be effective immediately (on the real time server).
Those two options will probably not be available for everyone and it is not decided yet but there are good changes that only high level editors can use them
Client
The graphical engine will be optimized
The client will show the reason why a route was choosen (maybe the main road had traffic or an accident)
