Fuel prices not updating

Hi,

I suspect there is an issue with the fuel price Db as I have updated 1 sainsburys garage today 3 times and the price has not updated, despite Waze assuring me I have got 8 points.
Tried the same at a morrisons (where there are 2 duplicates) and despite updating 3 times all 3 of them there were no changes.

I’ve been getting can’t download data when trying to post prices

NI area manager
Waze Beta - iPhone 4s iOS 6.1.2 not jail broken

Isn’t that just how the price update process works though? I’ve never seen any of my price updates shown there and then, but if I revisit the station later (anything from a few hours to a few days, doesn’t matter so long as no-one else has updated it in the meantime) then it’s my name shown against the prices that get displayed that time.

In my community new gas stations go up over night it seems, and it takes about a month after that station opens for it to even appear.

I just tried a couple on the way home. Both took the prices and in both cases, when I immediately went back to update again, they had my name on them.

Hi,

They usually show as update by me if I heck them again. Not this time.
I’ll go check them again tomorrow (by which time any issue will have been resolved!)…

I’ve updated one petrol station near me four times in the past five days. Every time I’ve had the “successful update - 8 points” message. The price showing is still the one I input six days ago, before this trouble started.

On another petrol station less than a quarter of a mile away, I consistently get the “baby wazer - *** off” message.

So it looks like the petrol station update process is well and truly messed up.

Hi,

Well 3 (Three) seem to be having data issues atm. That is - no data/3G whatsoever! I’ll test later if I can.
But going by the above I’ll not hold out any hope.

Des. . .

Yes, Three had Data issue since last night. Now it is fixed
btw, can we ask Three to reimburse

Now working properly again - at least for my two local stations.

Hi,

Not sure it is 100% at the mo…
Updated a garage I did yesterday and when the price info showed on screen, apparently I had updated it today (I hadn’t - it was yesterday I updated it!) so it is still a little flaky…!

Des. . .

Did you check within 24 hours of the last update? I’ve seen this behaviour countless times at various stations I update regularly, and so I’ve just assumed that when the client checks how long ago the last update was, it doesn’t calculate an accurate realtime result for the last update offset from the current time, but instead just does a simple (update was rounddown(elapsed time div elapsedticksperday) days ago) type calculation…

Hi,

It wasn’t 24 hours as I updated Friday evening and returned Saturday afternoon. Used not to behave this way previously though…

I’ll not update it today and check tomorrow.

Hi,

Checked the garage yesterday where it said the price was updated 2 days previously. I don’t think that should have been correct!

Hi,

Ok, so it appears that the “day” is a rolling 24 hours.

Yesterday I tried to update a service station price on the M1 (N) as the LPG price was 7.9p (damn cheap - get round there pronto!) but each time I attempted this I got an invalid price and nothing was updated.
No prob, I reported the issue. Link is Here but unfortunately some oik closed the report without even bothering to make any changes or apply any fix! I can see how this crops up.

So, is the invalid price a known issue? Any actual fix or report to support?

Des. . .

As far as I recall, there is a “sanity check” on the price - such that prices outside a range will be considered invalid. I would imagine that, for example unleaded prices have to be in a range something like 100p-180p.

Although I don’t pay much attention to LPG prices, 7.9p/l sounds unlikely enough to me that it is probably outside the range of allowable LPG prices.

Hi,

Might be. But I did try adding a price for the LPG that was only a couple of pence higher. Very odd…

Des. . .

Yeah during the addition of adding fuels and brands they needed sane price ranges. It’s here on the forum somewhere but it’s me that gave Shirli the prices.
Btw the closing of reports without doing anything really winds me up… can you tell?

Hi,

Naa… Really!!!

Winds me up to, to the point I write “Do NOT close this report!” whenever I can. Otherwise I forget where to apply fixes…

I’ve noticed that the “do you want to update fuel prices?” pop-up no longer appears when I’m stopped at the traffic lights outside my local petrol station since the Waze 3.7 client update. I also haven’t seen it when stopped at the station itself. It’s clearly not just affecting me because whenever I do get around to updating the price manually I see that the last update was by me several weeks ago. Back when this pop-up was appearing the fuel prices at this station were being updated daily by a variety of different users.

Anyone know what is going on here? It’s a shame that this feature that was almost starting to become useful has fallen into disrepair again.
