In the past three weeks I’ve been receiving an occasional error message when entering gas prices “prices entered are invalid”. Or, that I’m a Baby Wazer and not allowed to enter gas prices (I’m Royal). Any news on this front?

We have not heard anything about Gas Prices reporting issues. Since this is a local Waze forum for Maryland map updates, unfortunately those of us here aren’t as knowledgeable about these kinds of issues. The Google support form for Waze is here:

I’d like to add that the issue with being a baby wazer usually happens when your app gets updated. It will eventually fix itself after you have driven for a number of miles.

If you get the improper prices alert again, make note of how different the prices are. Some people have reported that a drastic difference can cause issues with updating. In some of those cases, I’ve found it effective to report the type of gas as not available, and then submitting a price update again with the corrected price.

I would also make a note if it’s a particular station that causes your issues. I have seen that as well.

If the price is too much of a change you can get the invalid price error.

You can’t enter prices if you are a baby wazer and it can take the server a few days to update if there is a hiccup on a download.

Regarding the “baby wazer” issue when updating fuel prices. Two things are quite annoying, the first is of course the erroneus message itself due to some communication error. Even when the app displays correct scores, I can get these “baby wazer” messages. Sometimes I can report fuel prices a one location and be baby wazered a few kilometres later on the same trip.
The second problem is just as annoying: The app lets you enter all the data before it checks for baby wazers. If you can’t fix the communication problem, please do the baby wazer check before the wazer has done the job of entering fuel data.
Is it really such a big problem that baby wazers can enter wrong data? The fuel prices are generally wrong most of the time anyway. Here in Norway gas stations change their prices several times a day.
