Google related address issues and Update Requests

Hi All,

Peter ( pjlasl ) created a form for us to fill in to correct Goggle related address issues and URs. He and his team will fix it. Please go ahead and fill in:

Link to form.
Attention: Please do not request modifications to address that involve boundaries (ie: airports, zoos, parks, etc). There is nothing we can do about these type of pins through Waze. Please create a Place Pin in the Waze Editor with the proper location.

If there are other GMMs like to join to his, please PM SkiDooGuy or karlcr9911
You can also go here and ask to for permission to Google sheet.

Hopefully they will be able to fix the issues with Airport Stop Points

I’d like to request a modification for this forum. I think we should have people enter the Google Maps Permalink too. For example, Open Google Maps, then click on the “Place” in Google Maps that needs to have the pin moved, it will populate the information about that place and will update the link in the address bar. That link is the permalink in Google for that location.

Example:

Waze Permalink: https://www.waze.com/editor/?env=usa&lon=-80.24706&lat=40.49412&layers=2021&zoom=3&venues=183370133.1833439185.174539

Google Maps Permalink: https://www.google.com/maps/place/Pittsburgh+International+Airport/@40.49399,-80.24622,16z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xc812270d148d3f59

Pin location in Google Maps should be moved to stop point target location in Waze using the (Area) Place “Landmark” of the Airport

Done.

Thanks for this!

I’d like to request a further, small, modification:
From

which makes it sound like there’s a UR in the Google Map,
to

or something similar.

Thanks for paying attention to details. I updated the form. Please take a look at it.

Is this still going to happen with the google links removed from wme. If so I can help out some on the fixes.

This shouldn’t stop from fixing issues on GMM. It just means that a few more steps have to be added to get to GMM.

Google link is a suggestion. Not required to solve the issue.

Ok I was just wondering because it is starting to look like waze and google are starting to place more distance between them. I am willing to help out with this when I can if more help is needed.

Please reach out to pjlasl who’s leading the team.

Question, will we be notified after the change has been made/approved/denied in GM?

I will pm him when I get back home over the weekend. Thanks.

The new email notification system has been updated so that requestors will now receive 1 of 3 emails depending on the outcome their request:

Thank you!

But this does nothing to people who aren’t paying attention to what search provider they are using, or uses the instant result. I created a pin place for a few landmarks that I’ve gotten dozens of URs on and people are still being routed to the wrong location.

If Google isn’t going to fix this, then Waze needs to depreciate Google results in the app so changes we make in the editor will actually take care of these issues.

From my understanding Waze is working on addressing this, however, in the meantime there have been “hacks” per say to address the issue. Airport Stop Points Hack

I understand the frustration with these types, but it is paramount that you place the Waze Place pin in its proper location. Google is not gong to budge on moving those pins (been there and had a nice chat with Google employee).

The hope is upcoming releases will place Waze results ahead of Google.

So what was Google’s justification for doing that, given that they know full well that there are a number of 3rd party apps that rely on their POI lookup? Or was it just a “we are Google, we’ll do what we please!” act?
