  • All GEP partners migrated to the new Hub

  • First French speaking Crisis webinar took place on Nov. 30

  • Waze Discuss for Partners was launched, where all Waze for Cities partners and over 60 champs can collaborate and support one another!

  • The Brazilian Community led a one-hour training for COR (Center of Operations Rio) on how to insert road closures and events directly on the WME. Around 20 COR employees attended!

    Localization Community updates

  • We started holding quarterly calls to hear the community’s feedback and receive live updates

  • We launched a new bug flow, to handle bugs bugs in up to 2 business days, for better transparency

  • We launched 8 prompt 4 TTS voices with the help of our dear Localization community!

  • Along with the community, we made significant fixes to several TTS voices
    Recruitment

  • In 2022, hundreds of inexperienced editors reached out to ask for a mentor

  • Our dear Mentoring Coordinators matched the inexperienced editors with mentors

  • We ran a survey for inexperienced editors and found that most of the responders are satisfied with their mentoring experience and continue to edit regularly, thanks to their mentor!

  • Thank you Mentoring Coordinators and Mentors!
    Support Community

  • The support community handled 3,100+ threads in 2022!

  • They answered 72% of all questions! That’s amazing!

  • Over 50 Product Experts actively responded to questions and comments! Thank you!
    Social Media Community

  • In 2022, the social media community collaborated with staff to create alert banners to share on Community social media channels.

  • We held a call where the community shared their feedback with the Waze Brand team

  • Dozens of community members gained access to the Waze Brand Center

  • The community actively communicated through the dedicated forum and Discord channel
    Hackathon

  • In June 2022, we held our very first Community - Staff Hackathon!

  • Dozens of community and staff members submitted their ideas for the Hackathon

  • 11 were chosen to participate, and 9 teams of community and staff members collaborated during 2 days of online sessions!

  • A panel of Waze management judges chose the winning idea: Major change in speed limit!

  • The idea is now a part of the Waze roadmap, planned to be worked on in 2023!
    Hyperlocal messages

  • Community coordinators requested to share dozens of messages with their local drivers, which impacted millions of drivers around the world!

  • Staff added 10 new Hyperlocal messages in 2022, resulting in 15 messages available to share with local drivers through the app

  • The project is now paused
    Surveys

Beta community

  • We’re a long term community! 80% of respondents have been with us +2 years! Great to have you with us :slight_smile:

  • Satisfaction with the Beta program increased by 8% from last year!

  • +15% more of respondents are likely to recommend to a friend!

  • Main motivation for participation is to provide feedback to improve the product

  • 58% show interest in social aspects of community

  • There’s an overall increase in awareness to Beta projects and activities

  • 78% or respondents are also Editors

  • Number of Survey responses increased by 12% from last year
    Editors community

  • Most respondents are satisfied with the community, leadership, staff professionalism and communication

  • Most respondents are satisfied with the editing experience and training materials

  • Most respondents edit the map daily or a few times a week!

  • The main motivation for most respondents is that their contribution helps other Wazers on the road

  • Most respondents prefer to contribute to Waze by adding and verifying information on the map

  • Most respondents find information through their local communities
    Localization community

  • Most respondents localize a few times a month

  • Most respondents find information through the Localization Discord channel

  • Most respondents participate in the Localization community since their contribution helps other local Wazers

  • Most respondents are satisfied with the community, Transifex, their coordinator, staff, reporting process and communications

Community Promotions
New Global Champs: 17 new GCs nominated AND approved throughout 2022
Crisis & Traffic Events

  • In 2022, 254 crisis events were supported in 28 countries.

  • 98 editors joined the First Responder program, to collaborate with the crisis team during uncertain times and support their family, friends and local community.

  • The community was involved in adding 10.7K Traffic events to the map.
    Communities Team Updates

  • Hila Roth, the Communities team manager, is on Maternity leave. Her replacements are fej@google.com and timqueenan@waze.com.

  • leeor@google.com, a Communities team manager, is on Maternity leave. Her replacements are daliahd@google.com and dpanica@google.com

  • shirak@google.com is on a temporary role rotation. dalfassi@google.com and adriansinger@google.com support her communities in her absence.

    Wazeopedia:

  • The Wazeopedia Revamp is now Live! Community members that visit the site will have a better user experience and performance, which will enable them to find what they’re looking for. Organizing and adding content will also be faster and easier!

  • New clean and clear UX design with new templates for all Wiki pages that will enable users to easily find what they’re looking for, and to organize their content in a better way.

  • Communities can decide how their Main Page will look and which sections will be highlighted.

  • Editing Guide Deck- To learn how to use the new templates and media extensions.

  • Wazeopedia Webinar advanced editing recording.
    Forum

  • The forum chat is live! We see an increase in the number of messages that get positive feedback from community members.

  • Next up is chat in the WME, we will also have group chats
