Using the house numbering interface is easy, but locally to me, many houses are named like ‘Savanna’, ‘Crow’s End’, ‘Beaky Cottage’, and other stupidly weird names. Some roads don’t have numbers at all, some are a mixture.
How are these entered onto the map for navigation?
Are these added as residential Places? If so, how does navigation to those work with road names?

Unfortunately, this can’t be done in either house numbering or residential places. They don’t accept solely text input so, strictly speaking, this is a gap in Waze fuctionality.
I have seen users and editors adding places using the category Other, or Lodging, but these are fudges at best.
Hmm, not too sure whether I want to go down that route.
Would only have to be all redone if/when they implement it anyway, although it is frustrating having number navigation but then nothing for those who decide they’re going to name their house Seaview Point, on a hill no less :lol:

Hi, there are two types of house name. One, like mine and many in Pembrokeshire, is the only identification of the house. The other, the house has a name and number, My parents old house was called ‘Conyers’ but was also #57. With these 2nd type we can put the house number. With the former there’s not a lot we can do.

Yeah, unfortunately most here are the former. Just have to wait on some kind of update from Waze. Would be good as none of these places are searchable on any mapping service I’m aware of, let alone a navigation app.
This issue is one of many on my list of questions for the Waze team at the next meeting. There are lots of places that have a or b after the name and some with just a text address, as you mentioned. Also for a block of flats, there is often a case for xx - xx as the number, as it covers a range of numbers with the same location.
Waze need to understand this and open the restriction on this cell to include letters and (some specific) symbols.
Hopefully they will listen, but who knows!!
I can’t see it being a substantial change to be honest. I’d have thought it would just be a case of changing it to a text field in whatever database it’s on.

I have exactly this problem. I live on a long road where all of the houses have names & no numbers. In addition, most of the houses have long driveways that don’t even appear in Waze at the moment. It’s a complete nightmare for parcel deliveries, but I do see a lot of the people doing deliveries have Waze up on their phones.
Given the long drives, I’m wondering if a partial solution is to edit the map to include the driveway, & name the driveway after the house. I’m not sure that this is a good thing to do or not, or even if it’s useful.
