How to get Waze SPEED data on route?

Hi. I’ve been using Waze for a few months now, and have a real need to access travel speed at each dot on my saved track. More clearly: I need to see how fast in miles per hour the vehicle was traveling along each plot of the route.

I have not found out how to access this data. It should be fairly easy to access, even if somehow calculating timestamps between plot point distance, but that seems impossible to find as well.

Am I just missing something? Browsed through the FAQs and did a forum search for speed on route, but couldn’t find my answer.

Thanks!
Curtis

The only way I know is within Cartouche. Click on the segment of interest then select the details options.

On the client side, I can only speak from experience with the iPhone: There’s no method to access the speed data on the client.

Do the GPX files contain any speed information? Or the possibility to get the speed info from the GPX file if it contains GPS coordinates and timestamps? I’ve never looked at one of the Waze GPX files. Just thinkin’ out loud with my fingers.

If you are looking for an individuals speed, you would have to data crunch the GPX files you can download of the route. This would of course require that you have access to the person in questions account to download that data.

If you are looking at speed data on aggregate, the only user facing data on this is what cartouche shows when you edit details for a segment. This has been said to be average speed for that segment, even though waze keeps more granular data. I would not expect them to be as fourth coming with that data, as that would be in the set of data that they are trying to sell.
