Where are they?
Whaaaaaat?
@ argus-cronos and AlanOfTheBerg
I just loaded my editor like I always do and went to and area which is usually has no aerials from Bing (or really blurry ones from far up) and I noticed everything was now there and perfectly clear. I compared to Google Maps and it seems to be the same images.
But not here https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=4&lat=46.95306&lon=8.01834&layers=BFTTFTTTTFTTTTTTTTFTTTFTT
There were Aerials before!
now they’re gone…
Over here the Forest/Grove landmark was stopped in a straight line and some roads or rails also because Bing aerials stopped…

Now you can see very well !
I hope it won’t make trouble for other areas where it’s the opposite like you found.
Nice, it looks like you have to do a lot of alignment ![]()
Yes, this is going to be fun ![]()
Good news, many new areas have very good pictures now.
That’s nice, hope they are accurate.
It’s quite odd, IMO that this happened on the weekend. Unless it was the last thing they updated before leaving the office. Could someone verify the URL aerials are being pulled from?
I hope so too. In my area they date back to about a year
These are not google aerials. Just a quick glance in maps.google at the same location is clear. Also, every single aerial image tile at the URL provided comes from virtualearth.net. Which is bing.
This is just a bing aerial update in the area. Either way, now you have much better images to work with!
Oops, then forget about what I said in my first post, haha
Thanks for the info !
Yes, I think more for update bing. I come now to compare the images on Waze and Google maps and they do not match. In my area the Google images are newer than Waze
I guess it really depends on the area.
For example from Schwyz to Glarus (Pragelpass) there are still no aerials.
Certainly. It would be exceedingly difficult to replace images globally overnight. Every provider does periodic updates, usually fairly small (globally-speaking) areas at a time.
I discovered recently that there is at least some Google imagery available in the UK.
In this case, at high zoom, the images not only come from Google, but are newer than the images used on Google Maps.
What’s the URL the images are loaded from?
