OK, another question; I am getting more involved in Waze and I like to understand the details.
Early afternoon, while the locals were having 3 hours + lunch, I was raking some miles and having serious fun in the twisties in the "Cote d’Azur’ back country with my Harley-Davidson.
Every now and then, an icon would pop-up in the middle of the screen and disappear after a few seconds; looked like a wazer in a pink polygon shape; I managed to hit one and a window popped up, like when you tap another wazer on the map ??? Is it related to the “ping” thing that I have not looked into yet ?
A thought: the client interface (Android) is not the best on a motorcycle; maybe a simplified display with bigger letters and icons like another brand should be in the works …
It’s just an icon to show a “nearby” wazer.
Waze isn’t designed to be used on a motorbike, if you weave between traffic you’re actually polluting data for the rest of us!

hmmmmm ! Discrimination ???
Just kidding
In the US, bikes do not weave, it is against the law; of course some crotch rockets do it, but they don’t use waze
Of course, here in France, it is common, but I don’t do it; haven’t done it in the last 50+ years of riding, not going to start now
BTW, thanks for the info; so, what is the practical use of that icon popping up ?
Harley-Davidson. If I had to explain, you wouldn’t understand.
The problem is lane-splitting. A motorcycle cruising between the lanes at 40 mph in standstill traffic will erase traffic jams sometimes.
It’s illegal in many states, though not all, and in the states that it’s illegal, it’s often done anyway.
If you’re going to do that sort of thing, don’t run Waze on the motorcycle. If you’re operating your motorcycle in a reasonable manner, then Waze is fine.
Did you try lane splitting on a big Harley, in South Florida; probably not, since you seem still alive
At 38" wide (almost 1 meter), among big, cars/SUV/PU trucks, driven by old retired folks, most of us don’t weave, we don’t split lanes either. Lots of “cage” drivers don’t like bikers and they don’t cut you any slack like they do in Europe; quite the contrary. Car against bike, guess who loses  As I often say: “I am too old to be in a hurry”.
So, I’ll keep using Waze on my bike as I don’t feel it “pollutes” the data.
“One informed judgment is worth a thousand hasty ones. The thing to do is to supply light and not heat”
No offense meant, but I have been riding since 1956 (yep, I am that old) and spent a lot of time fighting for bikers rights and it still shows
All that for 2 words? Seriously?
