I ride a motorcycle with Waze open for getting directions, but I had a question about Lane-Splitting Motorcycles… I’m able to travel about 10-15 mph faster than most traffic when there is congestion because of lane-splitting. Does Waze take this into account? Am I messing with the data stream? Will I look like a “cheater” and get penalized for it?
Hehe, always wanted a motorcycle for just that reason.
There really is no “cheating” in Waze. Your speed through an area will average with other Waze users so unless you are going 40-50mph faster it will not make a huge difference. There is no penalty just because you may pass another Waze user who is stuck in a lane of traffic. I can imagine if there are only a few Waze users in your area that they may get inaccurate traffic info if they are behind you but as more users submit info that will be less of a problem.
As always, this is just my understanding of the application, I am a user just like yourself.
I wouldn’t be too worried about it… I do drive a Prius, but unlike most Prius drivers I am a radar-detector owner, and I am liable to perhaps travel a bit more quickly than the general flow of traffic, especially when I’m driving home from work at night 
Right now, that means that Waze will route users based on the areas in which I’m able to drive the fastest, which I wouldn’t call a bad thing! When we get more users in the New Orleans area, the speeds will all average out, anyway. And also, who’s to say there aren’t other Waze users on motorcycles!
I’m also a motorcycle rider. When will Waze add a motorcycle icon for me?

Would love to see this.
This was the first thing I attempted to change in my preferences when I installed Waze. Sadly, I am forced to remain a car for the time being! 
We are looking to see how to add it. Problem is that based on our experience with the cars, there is high probability that the view from above on an item like a cycle, will have questionable 2-dimensional appearance.
It might look a little odd, but I think it would work. Here’s an example of a top view. I think it looks fine. What do other motorcyclists think?
