So I’ve been a Waze user for over 5 years now, only this year tried to get into map editing since there is alot of new construction in the area and I would like to contribute.
I’ve read that it takes over 1000 edits just to get to level 2. I don’t see how that is possible now with there very little to “do” atleast in my area.
I completely understand the need to have levels to prevent abuse/sabotage, however it seems the effort to contribute is futile as there isn’t anything to do. The NC Wiki for “things to do” is blank.
The only errors that pop up on the map are in Level 3 or higher areas so nothing I can do.
Well, I can say a few things. One, there’s always plenty to do. If you are having trouble finding things, reach out to the other NC editors and I’m sure they can give you some direction. Two, don’t worry about leveling up. If you do the above you’ll hit 1000 edits in no time, and it won’t really matter if everything around you is locked at 3 or higher. Stay in touch with your local editors and they can help with unlocks wherever necessary.
At some point the number of edits isn’t important to increasing your rank anyway.
As tonytx said, there’s always something that needs to be done, and I know that all of the states need more editors, including NC. We’d love you help you get plugged in some more so we can help you find things to do; if you’re interested in joining a chat for all the editors in the region, shoot me your email and I’ll get you added to our Slack team.
Even in the larger cities where it seems like there is not much to do there is. The map is never complete or perfect. Unlocks are easy to get these days with the various communication platforms we use…whether it be Slack like we use in the SAT or a GHO. As ccm said joining us in slack is a great way to get all the help you could ever need.
Hello, I’m one of the State Managers for North Carolina. I sent you a Private Message (PM) with default welcome message that I send to new editors when I see them. It has a lot of good information in the message. Feel free to message me on Slack once you get in there and I’ll help you find work to do. There is a lot of editing to do in North Carolina.
