I can’t quite figure out how to use the public editor to change driving directions.
I have a home at the end of a third mile gravel road with 5 other homes on it. We are at the end and our house is another fifth of a mile from the end of the road. We are are the back of our lot, and we back up to another property, that it sort of close to a road for their property. The only way to get to that road is to drive a very long mile around…
But Waze is bound and determined to tell people to go to THAT guy’s place to get to our house. His address isn’t even our street…
I can’t figure out how to tell waze "when people search for my address, please actually send them to my house, not a mile away (or 300 yards as the crow flies).
Does anyone know how I adjust this?
This is kind of important because we just bought this property and it has a large dog kennel which we intend to reopen these coming holidays… and I’d hate to send a bunch of a dogs to some random dude’s place.
Please let us know in which country this is
Sorry, United States, Washington state, city of Stanwood
Thanks, I’ve moved this to the Washington State’s forum
Hi, Are you trying to fix 317th st or 319th st?
Hi, I guess I’m not trying to “fix” either of them.
My home and business is is 2919 317th St NW.
Waze keeps telling people to to take 300th, and the turn left onto English graded road, and then basically stop at this guy’s private driveway that is parallel to 317th.
I’m just about certain this is because my lot is so big, that my house appears closer to his road than the actual road we live on (317th). Either way, waze is the only gps service with this issue, and I just didn’t know if I could correct it via the public editor. I did change a couple of things like noting my road is gravel, and it has a 15mph speed limit, but I couldn’t figure out if there’s a way to change waze’s bizarre and completely wrong directions to my house.
Unfortunately, this is outside my editing area so I am unable to fix it on your behalf, but here’s what steps you can do to fix this:
- Add a Place marker (you can do this from your phone, too) at your location with type ‘Residential’ and set the ‘Entry Point’ to the spot on 317th where your driveway intersects.
Or:
- Your private driveway is long enough that it falls under the criteria ‘can be mapped’, so just adding the driveway would likely fix this issue. Here are instructions for creating new roadway segments.
- Also create a Place as above, but set the Entry Point to the end of the new driveway segment.
(note this method will take a few days to show up in the app)

Your address was not verified on the Waze map. I have done that and the app will update in a few days.
Please note, you will need refresh your search for youraddress in a few days after the update as Waze does not do that for you and will continue to route you to the old GPS marker where it brought you originally.
Additionally if you’ve saved that spot to “home” or “work” you’ll need to delete and resave the new one. The steps to delete an item from your search history are located here: https://support.google.com/waze/answer/6262570?hl=en
awesome; thank you both so much!
