L3 Northmead NSW A28 Cumberland HWY

Incorrect turn restriction have been implemented on this road stopping travel down this major road.
Fixed what I could, as the intersection had been well rooted, one ways, red arrows… can’t fix this segment above my level.

what is your level?

Getting rid of the extraneous left-turn lane would probably be a good start, then you can merge the two segments back into one.

I was thinking that same thing

I just let it pass, can’t go on about everything

I’m level 2!!

Thanks, can be locked up.

I left the the left turn, as it might come up as a map problem if I removed it.

I think this is what TimAThing was trying to say

Something like that. Here’s a before and after shot:

  • Removed the extra turn-left lane. Not really needed, Waze can record the different waiting times for turning left vs. turning right from Briens Rd to A28.
  • Enable left-turn from Briens Rd to A28 on the existing segment.
  • Removed the two now-redundant junction points on both roads where the turn left lane was. Occam’s Razor works pretty well in this context.
  • Shifted the short segment of Briens Rd west slightly. The merit of this change is questionable as there isn’t really anything that’s likely to cause Waze to get missing-road errors from the left-turning traffic, but it fits the GPS tracks a bit better. I wouldn’t have done this if I wasn’t making the other edits at the same time.

looks good
