Advice and possible update required here. A map error has been raised for a roundabout which exists in geometry but in routing does not. Routing along Broxburn Rd is continuous in both directions there is no give way on to a roundabout. Instead it is possible to use the segments of the roundabout to turn and giveway to traffic on the opposite carriageway.
This would be confusing for navigating this section of road as you would be expecting to give way to oncoming traffic.
Would it be best to remove the roundabout in this location and replace this with separate road segments?
If it’s a roundabout in real life then it should be in Waze (subject to a few caveats none of which apply here). So we have to address why this is not giving roundabout instructions. On livemap I get an enter and exit roundabout instruction travelling both north and south. Does the client not give any instruction, not even “at the roundabout, go straight on”?
This is to fix an issue reported by another Wazer. I know this junction well and as I understand the navigation for a roundabout with 4 or less roads will advise for a “straight on” direction at the roundabout. The issue here is that when driving along this road there is no give way required when travelling along Broxburn Road. The instructions would lead the driver unfamiliar with the road to give way, when in fact this is not the case. I hope this makes some sense.
I think that it would make more sense that this was not constructed as a roundabout achieving more accurate navigation instructions for the Wazer.
Agreed. I think the original lock was done when we recommended roundabouts were locked (to try to prevent 0th exit errors, vainly in the end) and when locks increased as an editor went up the dizzy heights of nerd-dom. No reason now for this junction.
