Legality of adding current Red Light Cameras

Hi all,

Before I edit the map.

I was happy to go through the current RTA list of intersections/locations of speed cameras over the next 8 months to add them to Waze, etc and act as a general map editor when I can.

However, I can recall that mobile speed cameras were removed from the app as notifying their location was illegal, if I remember correctly.

Was this correct?

And is there any legal reason not to edit the map to add new red light/speed cameras as a volunteer.

Hi there,

The difficulty with mapping mobile speed camera’s is the changes in location. The Wiki page is here for you to read about camera’s.

It would be great to check around your local area’s and make sure everything is covered.

We previously used this resource to accurately map cameras in NSW, but NSW Transport stopped updating it regularly which made it hard for us to confirm reports of new cameras being installed. :frowning:
