Could i please have an approval on a business in the Dundee Area that is year old and hasn’t been marked on the map yet :slight_smile:

Since this is your first post, welcome to the Waze forum, and to editing. :mrgreen: New editors always welcome, and much needed in some areas. Have you seen the Quickstart guide? Far too much to absorb in one go, I know! :?

Your “place” is basically fine, but

  • the default navigation point is in the centre of the place area. This might turn out to be closer to the A85 than the correct access road, which would cause people navigating to it to be abandoned on the A85 :frowning: If under “Entry/Exit points” you click “Add point”, a blob will appear, which you can then drag onto the access road. No need to name it.

  • Waze has an annoying habit of picking up Google search results, and navigating to the middle of their location. This can cause the same problem as above. If this Amazon place appears on Google maps, then you can avoid this problem by “linking” the Google place into the Waze place. This basically makes Waze use the Waze map entry. However, I’m not clear whether the nearby Amazon entry on Google relates to this place or not.

  • I have a feeling that Waze HQ are pushing us away from mapping whole properties as a single place, towards mapping buildings and car parks separately. I perceive this as important where the car park is available for general public use; personally I’m not bothered when it’s a private car park. If you do decide to map the car park separately, ensure you set the “private” flag (when appropriate).

Hi all,
I thought I would jump on this thread rather than create another for the same thing. I have many edits in the Middlesbrough and West Yorkshire area.
If someone would be able to approve these for me that would be great or inform someone who can it would be greatly appreciated.
Also, is their a way of viewing my outstanding edits so I can keep track on what has and hasn’t be approved?

Hi, Humez, welcome to Waze editing!

Actually this is the one forum where it’s probably better to start a new “topic”. Reason is that in “Editor Requests”, most experienced editors (i.e. the ones authorised to update restricted things) tend only to look at the topics with no replies. Once it has a reply, the assumption is that the topic has been dealt with.

Anyway, I’ve approved most of your places. One exception is a roadside parking area. When I last heard (and I must admit I haven’t been watching this closely) we were only mapping parking areas that were sufficiently separate from the main roadway for the app to tell by GPS whether it was on the driving road or in the parking area.

Also, it would be good to put in the road name (street address) where possible.

Hi Ian,

I have moved the point for you, good tip to learn btw, the whole area i have marked is actually all of Amazon’s property, where the road comes in, there is a gatehouse where security have a gatehouse :slight_smile:

I know a lot of delivery trucks and drivers use Waze, this is probably the most beneficial thing to mark on the map lol
