I believe the new ramps are correctly placed as they are separate isolated lanes. all that we need is to enable the turns at barker cypress. Andrewfatcat has everything he edits locked down which makes it very frustrating when we cannot fix stuff.
If you move the ramps to the intersection the timing of the turn announcement will not be correct, you will not get a keep right announcement. if anything they could be moved farther from the intersection.
The instruction should be “Turn Right”, not “Keep Right”. This sort of kludge is not necessary as Waze gives the instructions well in advance of the turn. Editors should not be mapping lanes. They only serve to complicate the map and increase the chance for routing errors.
The correct way to fix this is to make it into 90 degree turns and then set the turn restrictions properly. Since the aerials don’t reflect what actually exists IRL, I’ll leave the turn restrictions up to the locals who actually drive this route.
I reduced the lock levels to (1) so you can get things straight.
i don’t think barker cypress should be locked in the first place. it is only locked because andrewfatcat locks everything he touches and leaves lots of errors behind. i can understand on the major highways. 290 is going to be under rapid change over the next few years so it should be at least locked at a lower level, like a 3.
If that area is now correct and routing properly, it needs to be locked for the very reason that someone else is likely to come along and try to make nothing’s match with the aerials.
You can make them 90 degree if you think that is the correct way, but as you can see in the construction diagram you found a link to (good research), the ramps are more like U-turn intersections found at most Hwy overpasses. That is why I put them that way to start with, I was not mapping lanes. I did it that way to get the correct voice navigation response, which I would think is “keep right” since there is a new right turn only lane and drivers are coming over a hill so need advanced instruction.
I’m amazed that this thread on a simple construction edit has generated so much discussion from those that have never driven or seen the new ramps.
well its still not correct and locked so I cannot fix it. Can someone fix this like it’s supposed to be, according to the below linked construction diagram. All of the allowed turns and lanes are marked with small arrows on the diagram, zoom in to see.
I 100% guarantee you can still turn left. I am the original editor that added the loops is the first place as I drive by there every day. The only change to this intersection is the new loops and I don’t like the way someone else moved the intersect to barker cypress so close to the original feeder intersection.
See link below and make it like this and I’ll be happy cause this is the way it is. Note that the original intersection with the feeders remains unchanged, yes you can turn left at the light! Also note that the ramps merge with barker cypress south of the traffic light, not sharp turns. The client message should say keep right, not turn right, just like hwy ramps. Perhaps they should even be ramps and not streets since they are dedicated segments just like hwy ramps.
