For the event, the only planned road closure:
East AND westbound Parkway Blvd from N Heartz Rd to Lodge Rd will be closed
from 12pm (July 1, 2017) to 12am (July 2, 2017)
I have passed this along to the Texas community. It would be nice to have you join us there.
The South Central Region would like to invite you to join us in our Slack team. It is easier to communicate with other editors from your region and get assistance in making quality map edits. Please fill out this form: http://bit.ly/2i3Yuij - An auto-invite will be sent to you within a few minutes. `
Hi Leah - I’ve added the closure to Waze. FYI We have several other GIS editors, including a Waze state manager, in our community. I do encourage you to join us on Slack if you have any further Waze editing interest. Thank you for the closure information. We hope to see you soon!
I also want to extend the invitation. Even if you aren’t able to edit much or at all, you can provide us closure information quickly the Slack and ensure that the Waze users have updated information for your city.
E Parkway Blvd from Stonemeade Way to Lodge Rd.
N Heartz Rd from Library (north entrance - library will remain open) to E Parkway Blvd.
July 1 (12PM) - July 2 (12AM)
Will Waze accept this event soon? I’ve submitted twice, and I see that Addison’s Kaboom Town has been published. Our anticipated numbers are 20-30K for the event.
Thanks for the addition closure information. I have extended the closure to include the parts you mentoined.
I also want to help clear up some confusion there might be here. I noticed you have created an “Event” for Celebrate Coppell. It looks like the roads were marked as being closed for the duration of the event, but were not tied to the event itself. This likely means that when you looked at the event details, it looks like it wasn’t accepted, and we apologize for that confusion.
The good news is that users would have not been routed that way, however drivers in the area wouldn’t have received a push notification that there was an event that’d impact traffic in the area. I have modified the closures that you mentioned above, and your additional closures, and linked them all to the Celebrate Coppell event. I’ve taken the liberty to also submit the MTE (Major Traffic Event) to Waze, which will allow push notifications to be sent. You can check out the closures via the events page. This particular event can be seen here.
If you could check and make sure we have the range of the roads correct, that’d be great, if there are any issues we can adjust as necessary.
As an addition to the responses from jm6087 and johnseab who invited you to Slack (I do see you there), the City of Coppell might be interested in the Connected Citizens Program (CCP), which might be a better fit for you if you are working for the city. The CCP program allows improved data interchange with Waze, including things such as managing closures among other things. I’d love to invite you to check out the CCP here to see if it might be something the City of Coppell might find useful.
We are definitely looking to get me involved with CCP in the future, so thank you all for your help and suggestions! I’m a novice, but I will work on getting more acquainted with the protocol.
A couple of things to note:
The “Celebrate Coppell” road closures appear to be tying to two events. The Addison “Kaboom Town” events reflect our closures - these are two separate events. Sorry for the confusion if I created any.
Also, we will be busing from several remote parking lots specifically for this event. Is this something Waze supports? More information: http://celebratecoppell.com/parking/
I know parking lots can be added, but I did want to clarify that these are specific to the event, will have shuttles to/from, and not all are ordinarily public access. -
