Level3→L2 Unlock: California - San Jose (Lincoln Ave)

My Level: 2
Reason for request:

Need to connect PLR to Lincoln ave

Lowered. The two one-way PLRs can be combined, you’re probably on top of that.

Done thanks

Did you not plan to combine the two one-way PLRs?

They have separate entrances / exits so I thought you meant the two coming off Lincoln ave in opposite directions. I put those on the same junction.

Okay on second thought it makes sense, done

Another step forward against PLR proliferation

The turn restrictions out of the PLR allow crossing Lincoln and turning left on Lincoln. Are you sure that’s OK?

EDIT: Speaking of turn restrictions, I have lowered an adjacent segment of Lincoln for you.

Okay, I might have caught it

Better! But, two more questions:

(1) What about routing anyone into that parking lot? Will that be useful?

(2) Do you plan to validate and activate at least some of the House Numbers on nearby Blewett Ave? (Do you know why that’s a concern here?)

I’ve not sure what sort of routing you ate talking about. I think you are referring to something I haven’t messed with in the past.

My only concern really were a couple roads not connected. Came up in validator so I never even looked at that other street.

No worries. Unlock requests (more so than update requests) imply a training opportunity, since while the locks are lowered you can do all sorts of things. But I’ll take off my cagey mentor hat :sunglasses:

(1) We’ve just completed the exit from the parking lot. However, the entrance to the parking lot is prohibited, so Waze would never route anyone in there in the first place.

(2) By virtue of the parking-lot road existing, routing to adjacent destinations has been changed (see this section of the Incorrect Edits article). If the PLR is worth keeping, then routing to the adjacent destinations will need to be fixed before the area will route properly again.

Specifically, Waze may begin using this new PLR to route drivers bound for the homes on Blewett Ave that have that PLR on the edge of their back yards. To remedy this, the Waze House Numbers on Blewett Ave need to be validated (using SV, county records, etc.) and activated – at minimum the few HNs on the other side of the PLR.

Naturally I could do all this myself without mentioning it, but if our roles were reversed I would want to know

(EDIT: Another solution to the routing impact of the new PLR is to redraw it farther away from other destinations. At present, it is drawn to come quite close to the homes on Blewett. Were it drawn further away the routing issue would probably disappear (depends on where exactly the Google pins are located for those homes).

I’ve gone ahead and finished the issues discussed above. Cheers!

…and now you know why I don’t like 1’s and 2’s using Validator.

Just be sure to take a look around at things once it points something out to you, because while Validator is really handy for finding the obvious problems, there are some things only good old-fashioned know-how can do, and where there is one problem, there are often others nearby.
