I like that the turn by turn list is now easily acceptable. But I would like this view to be “live”.
Sometimes a map is just too distracting. I can’t get my mom to use Waze because she can’t figure it out. I’d suggest that you have a list view. It would just be the turn by turn list, but live - the distance to the next turn would count down, pop up warnings would show, you’d still be able to report traffic, etc.
Additional features that could be added: define how many steps should be shown at once / font size. Again for my mom it would probably be best to increase the font size and only show two or three steps ahead.
This would also work really well as a HUD. Just add a toggle to reverse the screen, set the phone on the dashboard, and at least at night, you would be able to see your next few steps without taking your eyes off the road. When I’ve tried separate HUD apps I always find maps to be a) to distracting, and b) not clear enough after reflecting. A large text next step would work great.
