It’s not so live in terms of looks. In terms of routing, it should match the client.
If you added new roads and can ‘guess’ where they are, they are actually clickable in Livemap to test routing to and from.
It takes some guesswork due to the zoom levels sometimes, sort of like threading a needle in total darkness
Another thing, the later client has a More button when you touch and hold.
Select that and you can use that point as a start point for navigation.
It also works for testing but I’m not sure what range it supports.
For those not aware of it, the Livemap Navigation Browser addon script, is quite a useful addon script for the Livemap. It will list the turn-by-turn instructions, effectively mimicking what you would see in the client when testing navigation on Livemap.
The Greasemonkey script itself is at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/118389.
To get a good indication of where URs and MPs are reported and concentrated using Livemap, you can also use the Livemap UR Overlay available at http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/150276. It’s quite nice, as Livemap supports zooming out over much larger areas than the editor itself.
This is apparently a known issue; the client map has been updating regularly, but the live map hasn’t been updated for quite some time. If you attempt to route somewhere on the live map, it uses the latest routing data, which can result in a route along roads that don’t even show up on the live map, producing much hilarity.
TL;DR: don’t use the livemap at the moment, it’s broken.
