In fact, I strongly oppose putting high level locks on the map. It is because in HK there are only very few editors with high editor level (I am only L3 myself, tsemanhei is L2, grub_s is L3 but he seems to have disappeared for a few months).
If we were to follow guidelines from other countries, we might need to modify it so that even FW are not locked to above L3, but in order to prevent newbie accidentally editing the map in the wrong way, we should probably lock most trunk roads to L2 or above.
I personally think L2 is already enough for now. The map in HK is 90% mature so it’ll take some time for the newbie to progress from L1 to L2, and hopefully by then they have already learnt the correct way to draw maps in Waze. If we lock to L3, it means only two people can address a UR, namely me and leocylau. If we keep it at L2, tsemanhei can help too.
Quite a good idea. Let get starting to change all the trunk roads to L2. If some truck roads are already locked above L2 (manually or Autolock), I suggest to keep them no change.
We may need to think about some special area that higher level editors from overseas may edit the map when they get the right by visiting HK, like airport area, etc. This kind of areas may need lock above L2.
Agree. I’m just thinking…if the bus terminal is not accessible by cars, we probably don’t need to map it at all (or just map a single private road is enough). For those bus terminals with car accessible lanes, we can map one street type to allow routing.
I suggest to map the road in the bus terminal for location purposes. The way to map it will similar to car park (https://wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/UnitedKingdom/Places/Car_Parks#Parking_lot_roads) but simpler. Just to map one or two segments should suffice. They can be PLR or PR. Recently I saw some roads have been named [P]. I don’t think it is necessary. Should they be unnamed?
I also suggest to lock them to higher level as it will not be changed once it’s completed.
[P] will be spoken as “Car Park” by TTS (that’s something specific to HK). I don’t mind having PLRs marked as [P], if we didn’t put any name, will it inherit the name of the next segment (given these segments are way smaller than 400m)?
I don’t want it to inherit the next segment name though.
oh if there are [P] segments that would be wrong because it’s obviously not car park. Do you remember where it is? please send out the permalink for discussion, maybe it does have some parking space?
Besides I have seen street parking being drawn as [P], but according to wiki (USA wiki at least), street parking shouldn’t be mapped at all otherwise we will be overwhelmed with parking lots and PLRs. Shall we stick to the USA standard?
