Marking construction zones in WME

Currently, Wazers can report a hazard on the road (construction) that goes away quickly and can be flagged “not there” by other Wazers. There are various other types of “hazards” that can be reported, often incorrectly. But there is no way to report a construction zone, with narrowed lanes, reduced speed limit, no shoulder and construction equipment entering and leaving the work area (a far greater hazard than road kill on the roadway, IMHO).

I would like to see a WME feature to mark a segment or set of segments as “construction zone” that would be reflected in the App as a hazard warning at the beginning of the zone. “Not there” flags from Wazers could generate a map problem report so an editor could investigate and update, if the construction zone is actually gone. Characteristics could include time of day when appropriate, one direction or both, lane reductions and (if known) the date/time the construction will end. If blank, then it should be treated as “forever” until an editor removes it.

OK, I understand the Wiki - but it’s not clear what effect adding “(construction zone)” has on the Waze app. Do Wazers get a notification of the construction zone as a hazard? If not, then I don’t see the benefit. If so, then my request is satisfied.

I agree with Bill on this one, should be an option while driving to hit a key with “entering construction zone” and hit again when leaving.Accidents in construction zones kill about 700 people a year.

This is the editing forum, not the app forum. There is already a construction zone hazard you can post from the app.

There is not a true “zone” hazard, there is construction in the roadway you can post but not a true “zone” one.
