Guys,

Just responding to a very old (!) UR. I have renamed all the ramps to get the guidance working better. However I would like to change this segment. Can someone change this segment to a ramp and make it give a KEEP RIGHT command and then name the ramp “Right Two Lanes”. Unconventional I know but I have seen it once before and though it was a good idea. That’s my suggestion anyway!

Cheers,
Gav…

It’s an unusual exit situation (and one which was stuffed up by VicRoads when they ‘upgraded’ it a few years ago. And it’s now going to get widened again! I’ve made changes based on your suggestions so hopefully that improves things.

Thanks Lakeyboy,

You will have to put an angle in that segment won’t you to get a keep right instruction?

Thanks,
Gav…

I had a look at this page: https://wiki.waze.com/wiki/Junction_Style_Guide/Controlling_turn_instructions#Segment_naming_and_type

And how it’s set up at the moment (the angles for the West Gate Bridge / Burnley Tunnel exit split) should give ‘Exit Left’ to Burnley Tunnel and ‘Keep Right’ to the West Gate Bridge. If if gives out different instructions, i’ll modify it.

Are we talking about the same thing?! The segment you just named “Right Two Lanes” is straight through so you will get no instruction to “Keep right onto right two lanes” followed by a “then keep left/right etc…” which is how I hoped it would work anyway?

Cheers,
Gav…

I’m perhaps a little confused. I’ll drop the area to L3 to allow you to tinker around with how you believe it should be set up.

OK done. That is what I was thinking. Just an angle to get a keep right instruction. So now I hope you will get one of three commands approach that area:

  1. “Exit Left onto exit to Lormier St / Docklands / Kings Way”
  2. “Keep right onto right two lanes then exit right” followed by “Exit right onto M1 - West Gate Fwy to the Bridge / Geelong”
  3. “Keep right onto right two lanes then exit left” followed by “Exit left onto M1 - West Gate Fwy to City / SE Suburbs”

Is that going to work?
Gav…

P.S. I am assuming you will get a “then exit” command because they are fairly close together?

P.P.S If we don’t like the EXIT command you could change the ramps to FREEWAY and get a KEEP command couldn’t you?

It should work correctly. I’ll wait until the next tile update to run some test routes to see what instructions come up. Then tweaks can me made if necessary.
